About Erik

Erik was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and educated at The Ohio State University. He studied at University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign, graduating in 2007. Erik is a lawyer by trade, real estate is his passion. Erik transitioned within the real estate industry to an Estate Director at Compass after 8 years practicing real estate law in Chicago. Erik was an equity partner by age 32. After three years there he founded and later sold his own law firm in Chicago, E. Miles & Associates, which focused on residential real estate buy/sell transactions. He has closed nearly 700 real estate transactions in his career. In an attorney closing city like Chicago, Erik was also responsible for negotiating modifications to the contract including inspection contingencies, examining title commitments on every deal, facilitating efficient communication between the parties, agents and lender throughout the course of the transaction, and preparing final figure closing statements prior to closing. This comprehensive experience enables Erik to effectively advise his clients while keeping deals on track and closing on time. Erik's breadth of experience includes corporate law, formation, acquisition and finance. His firsthand experience is beneficial to entrepreneurs and business owners alike, he has been fortunate to assist tech start-ups at Chicago's 1871 incubator launch successfully from formation to funding. Erik has earned a reputation for trustworthiness and professionalism. His clients rely on his intellect, negotiation skills and strategic vision to accomplish their goals. As a child, Erik's home was the center of activity for his large family; a place where memories were created and dreams materialized. He believes that the home is the backbone of any great family. He gets his inspiration from the smiling faces of his clients when they close escrow on homes of their own. At Compass, Erik co-founded the Find LA Group with accomplished salesperson Vladan Stojanovic. Together, they leverage their combined experiences and knowledge of the local market to sell real property assets effectively to the satisfaction of their sophisticated clientele. Erik lives in Los Angeles with his partner Lacey and their English Bulldog Roscoe.
